The amount of talent that converged to make this is unbelievable. Written by Marvin Gaye, who's also playing the drums, with Mickey Stevenson and Ivy Jo Hunter. The Funk Brothers just killing it. The Vandellas really delivering the vocals, and the moves! Especially Martha, look at that smile, that attitude. I even tip my hat to whoever directed the main video here, and the cameramen, who caught it just right. For my money, it doesn't get any better.

We used to stop the car along the side of the road to dance when this came on the radio. Note, how slim and beautiful all the female Motown groups were back then. Makes you realize that the destruction of civilization tion is not some boring historical fact but something that can occur in the span of an average lifetime.

See this is how women use to be, they would sing about being lonely and beg for the man to come see them. Now they ask you to bring food when you come, and want help with their mortgage payments and getting tires for their car. The good old days.
